Hand cut smooth bear with no tail that is shaped like a possum
Blobs representing footsteps? beneath
Plain floral pattern in front and behind, with slightly more detail than #1
Denomination in large letters in middle
Unusually nicely engraved heads, with line drawing hair
Seen in 1/2 size

Later re-engraved to form the Bear10 series.

Seen in early DS struck on 0.60 gram pre-strike gold plated planchet (illustrated) and also in late DS with much less reverse detail (later than the Indian heads) and 0.65 gram post-strike gold plated planchet. Early die state has a heavy die line between the Bear's hind legs & coarse die polish at K2.
