I collect Casino chips from the Topaz Lake area. These are a few pieces that I do not need for my collection. Offers are welcome. They are listed alphabetically by Casino name.

Golden Bubble

GoldenBubble_AJ_greek

The Golden Bubble was located in Gardnerville, Nevada. Gardnerville is an old agricultural town at the south end of the Carson Valley. The town saloon was established circa 1880 and became the Golden Bubble in 1947, making this piece a true part of the old west. The Golden Bubble was sold to Sharkey in 1971 and underwent a large scale remodel at that time.

The above information was provided by the Gardnerville Historical Society.

AJ monogram chips indicate Al Johnson, the owner of the club. It is not clear how these chips were used. The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide lists similar chips with an Arodie mold as R-10, but does not list this small greek key mold chip. This chip is believed to be unique. Not in TCR. This chip is AVG and priced at $1500

Greg-Mar Lodge

George Greg Gregory and his wife Marjourey Gregory established a restuarant just to the North of Topaz Lodge in the early 1960s. At this time there was the Greg-Mar Lodge, Topaz Lodge and Pine Nut Casino at Topaz Lake, and not much else. When "Greg" determined that their nickel slot machines were making more profit than the restuarant, he got a gaming license (1963) and added more slots plus blackjack. He had planned to have craps, but never bought a table. Greg bought $1, $5, and $25 chips for this initial effort. The casino was sold to Casey's in 1968, but burned in 1969.

After Casey's burned, Greg bought the next lot to the North and built a new, similar restuarant. The gaming license was issued in 1971, but opening day was in 1972. Greg used the chips from the previous casino at this new casino. On opening day most (all but 1?) of the $25 chips were stolen together with the cash box. None of the $25 chips were recovered. This casino was sold to Horizons (a 4 member partnership) in 1973. The building still stands today as the unused Topaz Lodge Convention Center.

The above information was provided by one of Greg's sons and Marjourey.

The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide lists this chip as R-4, valued at $60 in SU and $80 in New. TCR number N3880. This chip is SU or better and priced at $50. Greg-Mar Lodge

See the Casino description for the $1 chip.

The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide lists this chip as R-4, valued at $60 in SU and $80 in New. In my opinion this chip is R-5. It certainly is difficult to locate. I cannot find any sales records in the last several years. TCR number N3725. This chip is SU or better (a little dirty) and priced at $75.
